My First IS Lesson: The Internet & WWW

We learnt about the internet and its different uses during our first lesson. The internet was used to allow scientists to share information at different locations. The internet has many different services, there are services that allow people to interact with each other and others that allow people to search for information.
Now.....what about WWW? What does it stand for? Well..... It stands for "World Wide Web", it is a collection of of electronic documents which are called web pages. Web pages can contain text, videos, graphics, sounds and links to other websites. There are many different web browsers such as, Internet Explorer, Safari and Mozilla Firefox. A web browser is a programme which allows you to view web pages. There are other programmes on the internet for entertainment, business, news, education and many other things. I think the first lesson was very interesting and I hope to gain more knowledge from other lessons in the future.
